چکیده

Background: Surface roughness is one of the most important characteristics endodontic instruments, correlating to instrument fracture. The purpose this study was measure surface values these instruments before and after resin root canal preparation without previous glide path preparation, with new method. Data obtained from field emission scanning electron microscopes (FE-SEM) combined independent ImageJ software (NIH, Bethesda, MD, USA). Methods: A total 20 simulated J-shape blocks a radius 4.5 mm, length 16 angle inflection 600 were chosen distributed into two equal groups. Each group prepared by WaveOne Gold Primary (Dentsply Sirona, Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland) or Reciproc Blue R25 (VDW, Munich, Germany) preparation. Special molds used confirm same areas on cutting blade at 3 mm instruments’ tips scanned FE-SEM, different observed times. parameters Ra, Rq, Rz in each sample collected using for analyses. data processed paired t-test significance level 0.05. Results: Right first instrumentation, reciprocating investigated decreased. Conclusions: FE-SEM images offered trustworthy suitable method assessment NiTi file roughness.

Surface finishing of unused rotary endodontic instruments: a SEM study.

During endodontic therapy, cleaning of root canals is performed using endodontic files and auxiliary chemical substances, and it is important that the endodontist be familiar with the instruments used in daily practice. This study evaluated, under scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the quality of the surface finishing of unused rotary endodontic instruments. Fifty sizes 20, 25 and 30 rotary fi...

Surface characteristics of reciprocating instruments before and after use--a SEM analysis.

The presence of debris, defects and deformations of endodontic reciprocating instruments before and after chemical-mechanical preparation (MCP) was analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The following 26 instruments were divided into 2 groups: Waveone (n=13) and Reciproc (n=13) and examined by SEM (150 x magnification) prior to canal preparation at 2 and 4 mm from the tip. The instr...

Evaluation of débridement techniques for endodontic instruments.

Files, reamers, and Hedström files were used to instrument both wet and dry canals and then cleansed by a chairside technique. Statistical analysis of the various cleansing techniques showed that 2 by 2 inch gauze wipes, either wet or dry, cleansed the instruments of debris better than any other means tested.

Assessment in vitro of brushing on dental surface roughness alteration by laser interferometry.

Noncarious cervical lesions (NCCLs) are considered to be of multifactorial origin, normally associated with inadequate brushing. This study assessed the influence in vitro of simulated brushing on NCCL formation. Fifteen human premolars were submitted to brushing in the cementoenamel junction region, using hard-, medium- and soft-bristled brushes associated with a toothpaste of medium abrasiven...
